Manufacturing sales continued to grow at 6.4 per cent in
February 2021

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales in February 2021 stood at RM118.4 billion, grew 6.4 per cent as compared to previous year. The rise in sales value in February 2021 was driven by the increase in Electrical & Electronics Products (10.3%), Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (9.0%) and Transport Equipment & Other Manufactures Products (8.2%). Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the sales value decreased 3.6 per cent.

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in February 2021 was 2,228,415 persons, a decrease of 2.2 per cent as compared to 2,277,882 persons in February 2020. Salaries & wages paid amounted to RM7,518.8 million, dropped by 1.2 per cent or RM89.6 million in February 2021 as against the same month of the preceding year.

The sales value per employee rose by 8.8 per cent to record RM53,138 as compared with the same month in 2020. Meanwhile, the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,374 in February 2021.
