Day 1 (21 September 2026)
The programme commenced with welcoming remarks by Ms. Siti Asiah Ahmad, Chief Statistician Malaysia, followed by remarks from H.E. Mr. Rin Virak, Head of the NIS Cambodia Delegation, who outlined the objectives of the study visit. NIS Cambodia shared an overview of its organisation, functions and strategic priorities, as well as Cambodia’s current national statistical system, governance framework and alignment with the National Strategic Development Plan. DOSM shared Malaysia’s experience in strengthening the National Statistical System, including the Strengthening of the National Statistical System (PSSN), Malaysian Statistical Data Network (MSDN), DOSM Strategic Plan, revision of the Statistics Act, coordination mechanisms with ministries and agencies, and the role of official statistics in supporting the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMK13).The study visit provides an important platform for DOSM and NIS Cambodia to exchange knowledge, share best practices and strengthen bilateral cooperation towards the modernisation and advancement of their respective national statistical systems.
